Castle Claeys-Bouüaert

Castle Claeys-Bouüaert, is a castle in Mariakerke near Ghent and property of the city. It was built in 1890-1892 for Alfred Claeys-Bouüaert to design by architect Joseph Schadde. It replaced a parent castle. The last owner Alfons Claeys Boúúerert van den Peereboom lived in the castle until 1971. The park with the surrounding land was recently purchased by the former municipality of Mariakerke. Currently the Center for Young Art is located . The CJK offers a forum for young artists. A small theater room also offers possibilities for theater and music performances. The CJK has a partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts of the city of Ghent and focuses among others on Castle Ateliers.
