The Castle Borluut

The Castle Borluut is a castle in the Belgian village of Sint-Denijs-Westrem, a district of Ghent. The castle is located in the Kleine Gentstraat, near the village center. Since 1997, the castle  together with the park  and the castle castle  is a protected monument. The Borluut area is listed for the first time in the book of St. Peter's in 1411. It was from Jakob Borluut and remained in the hands of the Borluut family until 1744. On the Ferraric Chart the domain is mentioned as 'White Castle'. The present castle Borluut was in possession of the family of Count Balthazar Borluut d'Hoogstraete after sale in 1858. He converted it by architect Joseph Van Damme to summer residence. The tower only came in 1914 by former owner Lucien Morel de Boucle Saint-Denis.
